Objectives

QUSTom focuses on transforming ultrasound-based breast cancer diagnosis by means of quantitative, high-resolution images.

Such images require huge computational effort and state-of-the-art ultrasound data acquisition devices but pose a revolutionary alternative to well-established methods such as mammograms, classical ultrasound and MRI.

The project has been selected to be part of the Pathfinder Pilot Programme of the European Innovation Council, funded by the European Union’s Horizon Europe Framework Programme for Research and Innovation.

Objectives

Obtaining full 3D ultrasound-based breast images by using

Full-aperture 3D
ultrasound data
acquisition devices.

01

Simulation-based
quantitative imaging
algorithms.

02

High-performance
computing acceleration
of such algorithms.

03

Efficient uncertainty
estimation of the
quantitative images.

04

As a result, QUSTom will introduce and validate a novel imaging modality  that has the potential to revolutionize breast cancer imaging
